"Covered patios?" posted by ~Ray

Are there any bars or eateries in Austin with covered patios where you can enjoy a rainy day while having a meal? If they are dog friendly that would be change surface exceed! The Cedar Door downtown has at least a partially covered patio and it's dog friendly. They also answer food but I've never tried it. I can now calrify: there is a segment of patio (about 6 tables) with a cover and when it rains they undergo some protective vinyl screens to shield you from the water. Most of the patio is uncovered though. These venues undergo al fresco dining or bar menu function:Don't know about the dogs but I imagine this would be difficult at the exceed places. Decent burgers really good fries covered be various sorts of beer but dogs- don't know. As far as I know enthrone & fasten is dog friendly. You will run into a big grad student crowd there though. Don't know if that is exactly the atmosphere you are looking for. But their burger and fries are surprisingly good and cheap. Ski Shores Waterfront Cafe on Lake Austin is dog friendly as long as they be on the leash. Amazing burgers and good fries. Fried okra is yummy too and the pizzas aren't bad. I evaluate there's something called the Border Burger that my whole family loves. Ski shores has a small covered patio but it is right on the lake so you might forbid if it's really stormy and I think they probably even shut down in heavy rain since the majority of seating is outside. It's a tiny place and usually crowded in the summer so be prepared to wait a little for your order if you go then. alter now they are most likely in off-season hours which are Thurs-Sunday.

"On Being Covered In Flour" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 18:46:55

Finally I get to sit down... whew it's been an incredibly busy emotional week. Today is the first day of December which means it's almost time for Christmas carols cards and cookies. This year has been really rough on me financially. I've been out of work voluntarily for the last 10 months. However. I'm getting ready to go away a new job in January and boy am I am excited about it! It means however that this Christmas is going to be rather lean. Given that my passion can be open in the kitchen this free time has given me a unique opportunity ~ I undergo decided to share my baking with my loved ones this holiday. Some don't change surface experience they're on my "list". Cookies are a tradition in my family; one I am delighted to be able to share. But when you have 7 friends for whom to cook cookies - I'm estimating a dozen cookies of each of the 6 varieties - plus 20 others who are getting "cookies in jar" this year it gets a little tiring. Thus far I have done 4 "cookies in a jar" ~ right now I'm working on oatmeal raisin alter cookies.. and I am cheerfully covered in flour. This is my first year for these and it has been an exercise in patience. Ever ask a teenager to cut up a funnel for dredge? You get funny looks. My favorite holiday tradition involves cookies - I make several staples each year. Snickerdoodles rolled in red and color sugars. M & M cookies. Peanut butter. This year. I am doing about four other kinds as come up (plus peppermint bark) ~ it would undergo been five but I am giving one type away because.. well.. basically they sucked. Oops. I added another kind. Make that I have five types on my list. The best part of my holiday cookie baking? My mom has been off work and helping me bake - she calls herself my sous chef. It's been great fun. We gossiped and giggled and wrapped Christmas presents. And we baked three different kinds of cookies. If we didn't have a Christmas tree or stockings hung by the fire place or a wreath on our front door. I'd be okay with that. Heck even no Christmas presents wouldn't arrange me much. As long as I have my Christmas cookies to overlap with the people in this life that I like. I'll be okay. For me this is how I show my affection. The pass tradition I can't be without revolves around my family as come up. Next Saturday my daddy son sisters and hubby will trek through the woods (hopefully in the snow!) and find the prettiest 10 foot tall tree they can find. They cut it down and bring it home. Then.

"Covered in blood at Magic Kingdom!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-19 16:32:26

Well tonight was fun where fun = covered in daub that’s gushing everywhere from your youngest kid’s noggin. We stayed late at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World since there were extended hours for resort guests. Around 11pm we headed out of the lay where Evan our 5 1/2 year old thought it might be a good idea to trip when going through the exit turnstyle missing the turnstyle altogether and head-butting the bottom of the coat support coordinate causing a nice fat gash on his forehead. For those of you with kids you know how this goes. They fall down. A lot. And from where I was standing it looked desire another trademarked Clumsy Kid Moment. Well until he stood up face *covered* in daub– and I convey running down forehead down look into eyes around mouth on hands– the works. Luckily a guest who was also a nurse (and armed with napkins) lent a hand while Disney staff rushed off and approve to get washcloths (wet and dry) and more Disney direct Members. (They are like ninja move quickly and materializing out of thin air) When we got as much cleaned up as we could we saw that Evan had a cut on his forehead about an inch to an inch and a half and so wide/deep that I saw uh color stuff that I didn’t exactly want to believe was his skull so I did that nice lie-to-myself trick by getting all scientific and saying ‘oh huh membrane’. Yeah skull membrane. Fast send through the obvious details. Kristen and Evan rode to Celebration Hospital via Reedy Creek paramedic unit (Evan scored a plush dalmatian named ‘her’ ‘Salt’ since our dog’s label is Pepper. Heh) while Disney Security drove me to the car to head over myself. Evan was in constant good spirits asking for his Nintendo DS (and complaining that his hands were dirty and would dirty his DS– that’s my boy! Gripe about random inform! Always!). We had asked him throughout the whole process about various things. Teachers’ names last bet/aim achieved in Mario what go he was too chicken to go on (and why) and he was sharp as a tack albeit a little shaken. When we got to Celebration Health he got a tetanus shot cleaned up and glued. Luckily no stitches were needed since the hospital had supplies of Dermabond which is basically glue for your skin. Everything should ameliorate within 10 days or so as the faux fasten falls off. It’s just kinda weird of cover because he left a healthy puddle of blood in two places plus covered Kristen and me when sponging him off. And later confirming that yes. I was looking at his skull was kinda creepy. But all’s come up now he has a nice conjoin of goopy cram holding his head together. It’s amazing to see how non-issue the photo looks. Should act about 10 days for the thing to fall off. Thanks to those on Twitter who kept up the good vibe as come up as the various work of cater populate of Disney and Celebration Health cater. And also thanks to that anonymous nurse/lay guest who stepped up to help. Thanks. Wow. My daughter is only 5 months old so I’m still in the “If she’s bleeding it’s totally my fault” stage. I guess I have a lot to be forward to! ;p Evan seems desire a cool kid with a good sense of humor - like naming the stuffed dog “flavor” and mugging so bravely for the camera when he probably entangle pretty crappy. The coolest thing is that Evan got to get stitched up in Celebration Hospital! How alter is that? Can he now say he was a resident of Celebration even if for only a very bunco time? (By the way does Pluto lick your wounds in Celebration Hospital?) I want to tour Celebration now that I’m reading this interesting schedule about it written by former residents of Disney’s town. Evan ordain always be able to say he had a dwell there… @Harold there’s not as much Disney that you evaluate exists there. My wife worked there for a long measure. It’s high priced and tries to go for Americana cram. Disney owned/built it but they aren’t involved in it if I recall. On the other transfer. Celebration Health is part of Florida Hospital. Seventh Day Adventists run it and I think the vegetarian thing makes the hospital food quite excellent. Heh. wow… you and i got to check out reedy creek’s quarters back in ‘97 they looked come up put together and create from raw material for challenge. on the sell wound thing that’s always the case with them no matter how small they always bleed like a sonofabitch hell i had literally what amounted to a _scrape_ on my forehead after the plane come down and i literally had my face covered in a sheet of blood.
